I am 3 weeks, 1 day & 12 hours away from the KC Classic…. which calculates to roughly 22 more times I get to practice posing, 18 more cardio sessions & 3 more times I have the opportunity to annihilate each body part split…but who’s counting. Of course I’m counting & so is every other competitor. We count food macros, sets, reps, meals, rest time…we count everything & still my favorite to count is my daily blessings.
I can’t express enough how incredibly blessed I am to have an amazing support system. My husband has embraced my goal as his own & has balanced me through many occasions. My family & friends blow me away with their loyalty & support. They count down with me the whole time cheering. And still there is one more area that I can always find endless support, fellow competitors.
I know there to be a friendly social circle amongst all athletics from runners to crossfitters. When you share a passion you find the positive in each other yet there is a bond that is nearly mystical amongst physique competitors. Men/ women, bodybuilder, figure or bikini we all compete. We have different purposes for our journey nonetheless our course is similar. We share stories, trade training techniques, exchange recipes & listen. Together we evolve & encourage each other’s growth. We are aware every competitor endures trials through prep & it is okay to lean on each other to remind each other of the magnificence waiting to be showcased. Whether we are on stage or in the audience we identify with the commitment involved & for me it is a privilege I treasure to be a part of it. When I step on stage I only compete against one person, myself. The person next to me is my comrade.

Some of you have been kind in reaching out to me to share you’re training for your first competition. I am sincere when I wish you the best. Enjoy the big & little moments leading you along the way. You are in good company with competitors. Do not waste your energy listening to naysayers; you are doing what they won’t. Allow the right people in & your accomplishments will flourish.
